The City of Albany Poverty Reduction Initiative has developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) for nonprofits, CBOs, and other workforce development/training entities to access CAPRI grants to provide job readiness training courses in partnership with employers or trade unions that lead to jobs or apprenticeships.
The goal of the RFP is to serve the City of Albany’s most vulnerable workers, defined as low-income adults and out of school youth, and to promote and facilitate, in partnership with community leaders and experts, coordination among workforce providers to maximize scarce resources, engagement between workforce development providers, trade unions, and employers to design training programs for real jobs in the community and deliver effective training programs that meet the needs of employers.
CAPRI has also created a scholarship fund and application process for individuals seeking training providing certification in specialized job skills:
Examples of qualified programs: Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Machinist), Electrician, Welding, Natural Gas Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, Massage Therapy, Esthetics/Cosmetology/Barbering, Heating/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technical Services (HVAC), Mortuary Science, Nursing, Health Sciences, Commercial Driver License (CDL), and many others.
CAPRI will host a Bidders Conference to help answer any questions regarding the RFP and Scholarship process, which those entities seeking to submit a proposal may have.
