CAPRI Scholarship

CAPRI announces the CAPRI Scholarship Program.  Under the Program, scholarships will be awarded to individuals who seek training that will provide certification and specialized job skills.

Eligibility Requirements and Application Procedure:

  • Scholarships of up to $2500 will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis for applicants who are pursuing a licensing program, or a professional or technical certification that will lead directly to full-time employment.
  • The applicant must be referred to the program by a caseworker, social worker or a CAPRI-affiliated non-profit organization. Referral agencies will assist with the completion and submission of the application.
  • The applicant may be a current high school senior or an adult.  Those who have been formerly incarcerated are also encouraged to apply.
  • The applicant must attach a recommendation letter from whomever is referring the applicant to the program.
  • The applicant must be a resident of the City of Albany, NY when applying.

Examples of qualified programs include but are not limited to: Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Machinist); Electrician; Welding; Natural Gas Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Massage Therapy; Esthetics/Cosmetology/Barbering; Heating/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technical Services (HVAC); Mortuary Science; Nursing; Health Sciences; Commercial Driver License (CDL).

If the applicant is selected to receive a scholarship, the referral agency will be required to complete a two-week progress report as well as a final report upon their completion of the program.
